Anxiety: Symptoms, types, diagnosis, and treatment

Anxiety feels like a state of dread or worry. All of us experience this in small doses which is a normal stress response. It serves a purpose to help us find that extra push for an upcoming situation that can be stressful like a big exam or a wedding.

This is how our bodies prepare us for what’s coming. However, too much anxiety can cause us harm. Diagnosable anxiety disorders occur when these feelings of extreme anxiety become extreme and last too long.

When this happens we are no longer getting a temporary boost, instead, we are overwhelmed with fear and worry. This disrupts our lives and causes dysfunction in our day-to-day lives.
